We all love exploring the world and enjoy some time off in a foreign country. It is one of the best thing on earth, isn’t it ?! No wonder why the destination wedding trend has became so popular over the years. Gathering all your best friends on this one perfect place that you have choosen, during the most beautiful and memorable day of your life : your wedding !

Today, we take you to the wonderful country of Kenya, traditionally famous for its safaris, diverse climate and geography, and amazing wildlife reserves & incredible world heritage national parks. The word ‘Kenya’ takes its origins from the Kamba name for Mount Kenya, « Kiinyaa ». Tourism has became Kenya’s largest foreign exchange earning sector, followed by flowers, coffee and tea. The Kenyan coast on the indian ocean,  feels like a different world from the wild savannah. White sands, coral reef, mangrove-lined creeks, shaded by huge coconut palms, it blends the bright light and fantastic colors of the tropics with the dazzling turquoise water of the Indian Ocean.

30 km south of Mombasa, lies one of the most idyllic beach in Africa ! The Diani Beach and the adjacent Galu is an heavenly stretch of beach that lies along the Indian Ocean for about 10 kilometers long. It is adjacent to the beautiful town of Ukunda, with a population of 100,000 inhabitants. The water remains quite shallow near the shore, with some underwater sandbars near the surface which allow you to do some of the best snorkeling. The vegetation on the beach is dense, and includes huge palm trees which almost cover the  entire coastal areas naturally. The general area is known for its coral reefs, black-and-white Columbus monkeys, and for the closely located Shimba Hills National Reserve, a wildlife reserve.  In addition, Diani Beach has severals  top notch  restaurants, hotels, supermarkets, and several shopping centres, all very near-by.

The Mzima House is a fusion of Tunisian and Moroccan architecture with chalk-white walls and high vaulted ceiling, hand-crafted on site by Tunisian stonemasons.  It has five double bedrooms, en suite, all air conditioned with additional ceiling fans.  The house is built around a central pool within a courtyard offering dazzling views of the ocean.  Sunset and moonlit nights can be enjoyed from the poolside courtyard and manicured lawn which faces the sea. Available is also a spa room where the wedded couple can enjoy a variety of treatments and massages, facials, nail treatments, aromatherapy and reflexology.

The luxuriant garden links the house to the beachfront, making it highly desirable, exclusive and picture-perfect setting for your destination wedding. The guests who chose to stay can stay at Mzima Cottages and Mzima Apartments which have been built with the same high standards as the Mzima House. Your guests get to enjoy a variety of activities available such as kite surfing, fishing, jet skiing, boat rides to the reef, excursion to wasini island, scenic flights, quad biking, bush safaris to the national parks and air safaris to masai mara.

Just a stone throw away from Mzima House is the sacred Kaya Forest, which the local Digo people continue to revere. According to the UNESCO World Heritage site, these forests consist of 11 separate forest sites spread over some 200 km along the coast containing the remains of numerous fortified villages, known as kayas, of the Mijikenda people. The kayas, created as of the 16th century but abandoned by the 1940s, are now regarded as the sacred abodes of ancestors and are maintained by councils of elders. A visit can be arranged where the guests get to plant a tree in the sacred forest to commemorate their visit there for all time.

For those jetting in on private planes, a small airstrip is located between the beach area and the Mombasa-Lunga Lunga road just a few kilometres from Mzima House.
